Refund and Returns Policy

Bluewake Marine Enterprises.

Last Updated: 03/03/2026

At Bluewake Marine Enterprises Ltd., we specialise in supplying marine diesel engines, marine generators, marine gearboxes, propulsion systems, saildrives, sterndrives, and associated marine equipment for commercial vessels, fishing vessels, workboats, yachts, leisure craft, and marine repower projects worldwide.

Due to the technical nature, high value, and often bespoke configuration of many of the products we supply, returns, cancellations, and refunds are subject to the terms outlined below.

Nothing in this policy affects any statutory rights available to consumers under applicable law.

Returns Summary

  • UK consumers may have cancellation rights under applicable consumer protection legislation.
  • Marine engines, generators, propulsion systems, and special-order equipment are frequently sourced or configured specifically for individual vessel projects.
  • Customers must contact Bluewake Marine Enterprises before returning any product.
  • Returned products should be unused, uninstalled, and in original condition unless a manufacturing defect exists.
  • Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer unless goods are faulty, damaged in transit, or supplied incorrectly.
  • Commercial and business-to-business orders may be subject to different return conditions.
  • Special-order and custom-configured equipment may not be eligible for cancellation or return once procurement or production has commenced.

1. International Customers

Bluewake Marine Enterprises Ltd. supplies marine equipment to customers throughout the United Kingdom and internationally.

Unless mandatory local consumer protection laws provide otherwise, this Returns & Refund Policy applies to all orders supplied by Bluewake Marine Enterprises Ltd., including international sales.

International customers are responsible for complying with local import regulations, customs requirements, taxes, duties, certification requirements, and legal obligations applicable within their jurisdiction.

Nothing within this policy limits any rights that cannot legally be excluded under applicable law.

2. UK Consumer Cancellation Rights

If you purchase as a consumer, you may have the right to cancel your order within 14 days of receiving your goods in accordance with applicable UK consumer protection legislation.

To exercise this right:

  • You must notify us within 14 days of receiving the goods.
  • Returned goods should be sent back within 14 days of notifying us of cancellation.
  • Products should be returned complete with all supplied accessories, manuals, documentation, and packaging where reasonably possible.

Where permitted by law, deductions may be made for any reduction in value resulting from handling beyond what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics, and functioning of the goods.

Nothing in this policy limits or excludes statutory consumer rights.

3. Marine Engine, Generator & Propulsion Orders

Many products supplied by Bluewake Marine Enterprises are not standard retail products.

Marine engines, marine generators, propulsion systems, marine transmissions, saildrives, sterndrives, and gearbox packages are frequently:

  • Configured to customer requirements
  • Allocated against specific vessel projects
  • Ordered directly from manufacturers
  • Built to specification
  • Supplied with customer-selected gearbox ratios
  • Supplied with specific control systems
  • Configured for commercial or recreational applications

Because of this, cancellation and return rights may become limited once procurement, production, allocation, configuration, or shipment arrangements have commenced.

Customers are encouraged to carefully verify specifications, dimensions, power requirements, gearbox ratios, cooling configurations, and vessel compatibility before placing an order.

4. Commercial & Business Orders

Orders placed by:

  • Commercial vessel operators
  • Shipyards
  • Marine engineering companies
  • Boat builders
  • Fishing operators
  • Government agencies
  • Trade customers

are generally treated as business-to-business transactions.

Business purchases are not automatically covered by consumer cancellation rights.

Returns, cancellations, and refunds for commercial orders are considered on a case-by-case basis and require prior written approval.

Approved commercial returns may be subject to supplier charges, freight costs, inspection charges, administrative charges, and reasonable restocking fees where applicable.

5. Special-Order & Custom-Configured Equipment

The following products are typically supplied on a special-order basis and may not be eligible for cancellation or return once ordered:

  • Marine diesel engines
  • Marine generator sets
  • Custom propulsion packages
  • Bespoke gearbox ratios
  • Saildrive packages
  • Sterndrive packages
  • Manufacturer-built-to-order equipment
  • Equipment configured to customer specifications
  • Products sourced specifically for a vessel project

If you are unsure whether a product is considered a special-order item, please contact our team before placing your order.

This section does not affect statutory rights that may apply to consumers under UK law.

6. Non-Returnable Products

Unless faulty, damaged in transit, or supplied incorrectly, the following products are generally not eligible for return:

  • Installed products
  • Commissioned engines
  • Commissioned generators
  • Used products
  • Modified products
  • Products damaged after delivery
  • Products damaged through improper storage
  • Products damaged through incorrect installation
  • Products damaged through misuse or neglect
  • Custom-configured equipment

7. Delivery Inspection Requirements

Marine engines, generators, gearboxes, propulsion systems, saildrives, sterndrives, and associated marine equipment should be inspected immediately upon delivery and before installation, commissioning, or operation.

Customers should verify:

  • Product model numbers
  • Serial numbers
  • Gearbox ratios
  • Shipping condition
  • Product configuration
  • Order accuracy

Any concerns should be reported to Bluewake Marine Enterprises as soon as reasonably possible after delivery.

Prompt reporting assists with freight investigations, insurance claims, manufacturer support requests, and warranty administration.

8. Faulty, Damaged, or Incorrectly Supplied Products

If goods arrive damaged, defective, or incorrectly supplied:

  • Notify Bluewake Marine Enterprises as soon as reasonably possible.
  • Provide photographs where possible.
  • Do not install, commission, or operate the equipment until guidance has been provided.

Depending on the circumstances, we may arrange:

  • Technical assessment
  • Manufacturer inspection
  • Repair
  • Replacement
  • Refund
  • Alternative resolution where appropriate

Return shipping costs for confirmed faulty or incorrectly supplied products will be covered by Bluewake Marine Enterprises where appropriate.

Products damaged due to improper installation, incorrect commissioning procedures, misuse, neglect, lack of maintenance, accident, or unauthorised modifications are not eligible for refund.

9. International Shipping & Return Freight

Due to the size, weight, value, and technical nature of many marine engines, generators, and propulsion systems supplied by Bluewake Marine Enterprises, returns often require specialist freight arrangements.

For approved returns:

  • Customers are responsible for arranging and paying for return freight unless the product is confirmed to be faulty or supplied incorrectly.
  • Customers are responsible for return shipping costs, export documentation, customs clearance charges, duties, taxes, brokerage fees, storage charges, and related logistics costs unless otherwise agreed in writing.
  • Returned products must be adequately packaged and protected to prevent damage during transit.
  • Customers should retain all tracking information, freight documentation, and proof of shipment until the return process has been completed.

Bluewake Marine Enterprises is not responsible for loss or damage occurring during return transportation arranged by the customer.

10. Delivery Charges

Where required under applicable consumer protection legislation, eligible standard outbound delivery charges may be refunded.

Additional charges for expedited delivery, express freight, specialist lifting equipment, crane services, offshore deliveries, remote-area deliveries, customs processing, or other upgraded shipping services may not be refundable.

For commercial orders, freight, handling, customs, insurance, and logistics charges are generally non-refundable unless otherwise agreed in writing.

11. Refused Deliveries

Customers should not refuse delivery of goods without first contacting Bluewake Marine Enterprises.

Where a shipment is refused without prior agreement, any resulting freight charges, customs fees, storage charges, return transportation costs, handling fees, or administrative costs may be deducted from any approved refund.

Special-order, custom-configured, or manufacturer-allocated products may not be eligible for refund if delivery is refused after shipment.

12. Marine Engine & Generator Warranty Considerations

Before requesting a return for a marine engine, generator, gearbox, saildrive, sterndrive, or propulsion component, customers should be aware that many operational concerns can be resolved through manufacturer-supported troubleshooting, technical inspection, warranty assessment, or authorised service procedures.

Where a warranty claim may apply, Bluewake Marine Enterprises will work with the relevant manufacturer, distributor, or authorised service network to assist customers in obtaining an appropriate resolution.

Warranty approval, repair authorisation, replacement decisions, and coverage determinations remain subject to the manufacturer’s warranty terms and procedures.

13. Refund Processing

Once returned goods have been received and inspected, Bluewake Marine Enterprises will assess eligibility for refund.

Where a refund is approved:

  • Refunds will be processed within 14 days of receiving the returned goods or proof of return shipment where applicable.
  • Refunds will be issued using the original payment method where reasonably possible.

Financial institutions may require additional processing time before funds appear in customer accounts.

14. Exchanges

Exchanges are generally offered only where:

  • Goods were supplied incorrectly
  • Goods are defective
  • Goods were damaged during transport

All exchanges remain subject to product availability and manufacturer stock levels.

15. Return Procedure

Before returning any product:

  1. Contact Bluewake Marine Enterprises.
  2. Provide your order details and reason for return.
  3. Await return authorisation and instructions.
  4. Ship products only to the approved return address provided.

Products must not be returned directly to manufacturers unless specifically instructed by Bluewake Marine Enterprises.

Unauthorised returns may result in delays or refusal of delivery.

For high-value marine equipment, we strongly recommend using a fully insured and trackable freight service.
